I've been doing my best to believe in the Hope offered to us by the Democratic presidential nominee, Barack Obama. In truth, it is difficult for me to trust anyone in the two-party system, no matter how "Anti-Man" he appears to be; a sentiment, I imagine, that is shared by many of us on MondoGobo.

However, while I've grown accustomed to political activists such as Rev. Jesse Jackson spouting hatred against the repressions inherent in our system, I've never heard those same activists spouting the same hatred towards one of their own; specifically, Barack Obama.

By "one of their own" I do not mean to draw a connection based on the color of their skin, but rather, the plight of the African-American to be more than a slave to the money machine -- to be President of the United States! Surely, the old gardes of the civil rights movement would be elated by Obama's tour de force in our current elections.

For those of you who haven't heard Rev. Jesse Jackson's latest controversial statements, he isn't pleased. In fact, if I interpret all the bleeps correctly, he would rather see Barack Obama separated from his man parts. Instead of focusing on the issue of race, as the comment was made between two members of the same, the story has focused on the old garde having issues accepting change in our country, and fighting as if they were still in the 70's.

After visiting the newest blog from RU Sirius, I noticed the quote at the top of the page by Thomas Jefferson which read: "The spirit of resistance to government is so valuable on certain occasions, that I wish it always to be kept alive." In other words, should the day come when Mr. Sirius sits at the helm of the nation, we too should desire that RU be separated from his man parts, simply in the spirit of resistance.

But I believe this the wrong attitude for the 21st Century. The Revolutionaries of the Old Garde seem to share a general distrust of the government, as their definition includes a "bunch of old rich white guys" who are sitting around trying to screw us out of our money. Obviously, simply switching around one of the adjectives does little to deter their deep distrust of the system.

From my perspective, the Revolutionaries of the New Garde -- the Avant Garde of the 21st Century -- is a Revolution of Inclusion, where the government is viewed as a voice of the people, as opposed to simply being a tool of an oppressive regime. This perspective allows us to take the power back instead of seeking to destroy it all together (or at least cut its nuts off).

I know we've got a lot of "Old Garde" on MondoGlobo, so I would rather open my thoughts for discussion. Are the Revolutionaries of the Old Garde, such as RU Sirius, capable of envisioning an Open Government, where everyone is given an equal voice in the system, or are they simply bent on tearing it all down, regardless of whoever sits at the helm of the Nation?
